A group show at Alliance Francaise in Karachi exhibited the works of Abdul Jabbar, Arif Ansari, Khusro Subzwari, Shan Raza Amrohvi, and SM Naqvi.
Abdul Jabbar is a talented and passionate artist whose work focuses on the essence of life, emotion, and contrast. His paintings revolve around complex realities of society and human emotions. He is well-known for his boat paintings. The artist wonderfully captures the sorrow of abandoned and broken-down boats waiting in vain for their sailors to return.
Arif Ansari is known for his evocative portrayal of nature. His work is a harmonious blend of colour, texture, and light. His work is mesmerising and encourages viewers to contemplate and reflect.
Khusro Subzwari, a self-taught artist, is deeply inspired by Sufism. He is known for his whirling dervishes, a theme based on Mevlana Rumi’s verses. His work is an embodiment of inspiration that is derived from Rumi’s poetry on spirituality and love.
Featuring works by VMCTA students, this exhibition was held at VM Art Gallery. The following artists exhibited their works at this show: Aniqa Fatima, Ambreen Shah, Hina Muhammad, Mahnoor Fatima, and Munazza Khan.
This show was a collective exploration of spirituality, geometry, and the deep connection between the earthly and the divine. The work draws inspiration from sacred geometry and Islamic architectural and biomorphic design, offering a reflection on timeless traditions. Through intricate patterns and geometric forms, the artists examine how these designs serve as meditative pathways to deeper understanding, blending personal journeys of spiritual growth with the rich heritage of Islamic art.
Ambreen Shah is drawn towards traditional art. Through her work, she aims to preserve and celebrate artistic heritage, infusing her creations with timeless motifs and craftsmanship.
Aniqa Fatima is focused on illumination art and calligraphy. Her work highlights spirituality, while her abstract art pieces allow viewers to make their own interpretations, which vary greatly depending on personal experiences and exposure.
Mahnoor Fatima is passionate about spirituality and art, and attempts to focus on creative expression with Islamic principles—creating art that inspires and moves people.
Each artist brings something new and different to the exhibition, with their own interesting perspectives and experiences. What they all have in common is their passion, talent, and skill for creating beautiful and meaningful art.
