A group show at Gallery 6, curated by Sana Arjumand, highlights that material transience and true belonging lie beyond the corporeal world. This exhibition invites artists to envision their own notions of the celestial, offering a collective visual meditation transcendence and remembrance.
The Microcosm, by Aaila Zahra, unfolds as a meticulously ordered yet quietly unsettled world, where the architecture and landscape interlock into rhythm of enclosure and openness. The detailed spaces feel intimate and live-in, inviting the viewer to slow down and observe everyday life. While the scene appears calm and ordered, the divided composition suggests that this harmony is delicate.
Hadia Hasan’s, The Evening we Were Promised, presents a quiet, open landscape marked by evenly spaced trees under a soft, fading sky. The repetition creates a sense of order and harmony, while the gentle colours suggest reflection and stillness. The scene feels hopeful yet restrained.
Sadaf Naeem’s, Guava Tree II, focuses on a single branch suspended against a quiet pale backdrop. The careful rendering of the leaves and fruit highlights close observation and respect for the natural form. By isolating the subject and softening the surrounding space, the work focuses on stillness, growth and quiet presence of nature.
Imran Baloch’s terracotta collage brings material language into close dialogue, where layered forms create a dense, flowing structure. The earthen palette and geometric composition engage the viewer and brings focus on order, rhythm and the quiet tension between structure and openness.
Together these works offer a shared visual contemplation of transcendence, encouraging the audience to reflect on themes of impermanence, belief and search for meaning beyond the materialism that consumes us and surrounds us.
